    Event on cryptocurrencies at Forvis Mazars, 14.04.2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

    On the evening of 14 April, an event on cryptocurrencies took place at Forvis Mazars in Frankfurt in cooperation with the German British Society Rhine Main e.V. In a highly inspiring presentation, Martin Haack, partner at Forvis Mazars in Stuttgart, provided a structured overview of how cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology work, as well as current market trends, regulatory developments and practical use cases. In addition, Veronika Glo\u00dfner, partner at Forvis Mazars in Frankfurt, explained the tax classification of crypto assets in Germany and, using practical examples, highlighted in particular holding periods, tax exemption thresholds and common mistakes made in tax returns. The event series is part of the objective to place economically relevant topics more strongly with young adults within the German British Society Rhine Main. Tobias Mackenrodt, host of the evening and Partner at Forvis Mazars in Frankfurt, was particularly pleased with the lively participation of attendees during the subsequent Q&A session and the successful cooperation between Forvis Mazars and the German British Society.<\/p>\n

    Subject: Dr Phil Winters 19.03.26<\/strong><\/p>\n

    On 19.03.26 at 19:00, at the Frankfurter PresseClub and on Teams, Dr. Phil Winters gave a sizeable audience a talk entitled \u201cWhy We Say Yes (or No): A Practical Look at How People Make Decisions\u201d.<\/p>\n

    Phil is an internationally renowned Customer Relationship Management expert, known variously as \u201cThe Father of Customer Intelligence\u201d, \u201cDatenfl\u00fcsterer\u201d and \u201cChoreograf des Kundenerlebnisses\u201d. During his active career he took the concept of \u201cKundenzufriedenheit\u201d a stage further, to \u201cKundenbegeisterung\u201d. His talk was interactive, very instructive and highly entertaining.<\/p>\n

    Phil is also an accomplished \u201cTechie\u201d, not least in AI. If we\u2019re nice to him, he might return to Frankfurt early next year with an analysis of AI developments between now and then.<\/p>\n

    Subject: John Kampfner 26.02.26<\/strong><\/p>\n

    On the evening of 26.02.26, at the Frankfurter PresseClub and on YouTube, John Kampfner gave us an incisive and entertaining but, alas, rather depressing state of the nation talk on Britain. He also touched on the many current problems of Germany and other big western European countries. John was worried that, unless top politicians in these countries became more courageous and resolute, there could be a lurch towards political extremism across the board in Europe in the next few years. John also mentioned his new book, \u201eBraver New World\u201c, due to be published in English in April and in German in September, in which he seeks a more positive perspective on the world by describing how selected countries have found “state of the art” solutions in areas such as care homes, social housing, clean energy and digitisation.
    \nThe event was well-attended both physically and virtually. In cooperation again with the FPC we plan to invite John back early next year to tell us more about “Braver New World”.<\/p>\n

    Subject: Guided Tour at the Historical Museum in Frankfurt 29.01.26<\/strong><\/p>\n

    On 29.01.26 we enjoyed a second guided tour of German-British exhibits at the Historical Museum in Frankfurt. Reinhard Fr\u00f6hlich, Co-Head of the museum\u2019s Freunde & F\u00f6rderer group, started by highlighting Shakespeare\u2019s impact on Goethe, impressively reading from some of the many Goethe letters in the museum\u2019s possession. He then showed us the Frankfurt facsimile of the Holy Roman Imperial Crown (the original being in the Wiener Schatzkammer), mentioned interestingly that British kings played a role in the election of (Austrian-German) Holy Roman Emperors in the 18th Century, and described how Frankfurt had undermined Napoleon\u2019s Continental Blockade in the early 19th Century. He went on to explain why the UK is historically so important to Siemens, that Reuters was established in London in 1851 by Baron Paul Reuter, and that British engineers introduced flush toilets and sanitation systems to the City of Frankfurt around the same time (well-known brands being Twyford, Doulton and\u2026Crapper).
    \nAfter the tour most of the group proceeded across the river for drinks and a bite to eat at Maaschanz Bistro \u2013 a nice end to an enjoyable evening.<\/p>\n
