Meet our guest from Coventry: Poet Andrea Mbarushimana

8. July 2026 19:00

Dear DBG Dresden members and friends,

we would like to draw your attention to the following “save the date” message:

Next month, we will be welcoming Coventry poet and writer Andrea Mbarushimana to Dresden as part of our Writer Exchange programme. In collaboration with the Volkshochschule Dresden, we will be hosting an evening dedicated to her work

on Wednesday, 8 July at 7 pm, at the Volkshochschule, Annenstraße 10 .

We are thrilled to welcome Andrea Mbarushimana, who is visiting us from Dresden’s twin city, Coventry, for an evening of poetry and stories. A poet and visual artist, Andrea says, “Writing and art are both vital to me. Both take me to new places and help me grow.” Her work is strongly influenced by community and social justice themes, it has been found on brick walls, shop windows, in chapels, council buildings and even in a poetry vending machine in Dresden. She has published widely and was appointed Coventry’s Poet Laureate in 2026.

The German-British Society Dresden, which have been organising a writers exchange with Coventry since 2022, and their partner organisation, Volkshochschule Dresden, are delighted to welcome you to this event of reading, listening, talking, and mingling.

English proficiency at B2/C1 is recommended.

Entry is free. For further details and to register, click https://is.gd/IJPovX
