On September 14, we will be joined by the writer and literary scholar Professor
Rüdiger Görner for a reading from his recently published novel The Marble Song
(PalmArtPress, Berlin). The reading will be introduced by the eminent literary
critic Rosie Goldsmith (European Literature Network & BBC). Thereafter,
Rüdiger Görner will be in conversation with Rosie Goldsmith about this novel, his
life and work.

Rüdiger Görner is the founding director of the Centre for Anglo-German Cultural
relations at Queen Mary University of London and author of some forty
monographs, books of fiction, poetry, and essays. Amongst his awards is the
Reimar Lüst Prize of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation for his life’s work
as well as the Deutsche Sprachpreis of the Henning Kaufmann Foundation. In 2016
he was awarded the German Order of Merit for his achievements in Anglo-German
relations.
The Marble Song is his first work of fiction written in English.
