HM Königin Elizabeth II.
1926 – 2022
Despite the horrors of WWII, which she experienced herself as a young girl, Queen Elizabeth II. offered the German people her hand in reconciliation. Throughout her long reign of over 70 years, the deepening of the German-British relationship has been close to her heart. Her many travels to Germany, in particular her deeply symbolic visit to Dresden, will never be forgotten.
She was appreciated particularly for her quiet dignity, her kindness and her warm sense of humour.
She will always be remembered.
Thomas Matussek, Ambassador ret.
Chairman, Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft e.V.
