What’s happening in British politics? Can the Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, remain as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after the U.S. Department of Justice released more than three million documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein’s network and its connections to influential figures? A central theme of the revelations concerns British politician Peter Mandelson, who is alleged to have passed confidential information to Epstein during his time as a minister. The disclosures are having repercussions across British politics, and there are growing fears that public trust in the political system may erode further. What consequences might the revelations about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (the former Prince Andrew, Duke of York) and Sarah Ferguson (formerly Sarah, Duchess of York and ex-wife of Andrew) have for the British royal family? Another issue is the British economy — how can it be revitalized? And following the Kensington Agreement, can we expect more concrete steps by the British government toward the EU? Finally, we want to discuss whether British tabloid newspapers can still be sold in print, or whether online subscriptions are becoming dominant. Should journalists in the UK brace themselves for layoffs similar to those at The Washington Post?
